MISSION STATEMENT
The Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad does not receive compensation
for our work or charge for our services. We are a professional organization
that provides the best possible care to everyone in our community or those
who are just visiting. The Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad provides
rescue services to Greeneville and Greene County, ranging from extrication
for automobile crash victims, water rescue/recovery, land based search and
rescue, rope rescue, agricultural accidents, trench collapse, industrial
accidents, medical stand-bys at sporting events, etc. Support services to
other emergency agencies is also provided.
HISTORY
The Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad was formed by business leaders
with the assistance of the Kingsport and Johnson City Rescue Squads on May
29, 1950 and became the third rescue squad in Tennessee. The Greeneville
Emergency and Rescue Squad is a charter member of the Tennessee Association
of Rescue Squads and an associate member of the Greene County Association
of Volunteer Fire Departments. The Rescue Squad is located at 602 West Church
Street, just above the Greene County Health Department at the intersection of
Locust Street and Church Street.
DONATIONS
The Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad has been funded almost entirely
(75%) by the United Way since it was established in 1954. Donations from
citizens and companies along with small foundation type grants make up
the remaining 25% of our operating budget. The Greeneville Emergency and
Rescue Squad operates only with your support. We receive funding through
your donations to the United Way of Greene County or directly to the
Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad. Charitable contributions may be
made at PO BOX 243 Greeneville TN 37744. We are a 501 (c) (3) private
non-profit organization.
